How to add Upsells
ConvertX Upsells let you suggest an additional product directly on the Shopify product page. The upsell appears as part of the buying flow so shoppers can accept it before they add the main product to cart.
Upsells require the ConvertX App Embed and a product page App Block in the Shopify Theme Editor.
How Upsells work
An upsell typically appears as a compact offer with:
- Product image
- Product title
- Description
- Price
- Checkbox or accept state
When the shopper accepts the upsell and uses the theme Add to Cart flow, the upsell product is added together with the main product.
Before you start
Make sure that:
- The ConvertX App Embed is enabled
- The upsell product is available in Shopify
- The current product matches the targeting rules
Upsell editor overview
The editor includes:
- General settings for name and targeting
- Upsell settings for the offered product and content
- Style settings for the visual design
- A live preview
You can configure:
- Which product to offer
- Which products or collections should display the upsell
- Optional custom name, description, or badge
- Default checked behavior
- Borders, colors, checkbox styling, and typography
Use pre-selected upsells carefully. The offer should stay clear and trustworthy for the shopper.
Publish and place the upsell
Publish the upsell
Save the upsell as active in ConvertX.
Open the Shopify Theme Editor
Go to the product template used by the targeted product pages.
Add the ConvertX Upsell App Block
Select the Upsell App Block in the product section.
Place it above Add to Cart
This keeps the offer inside the purchase flow.
Save the theme
Confirm the final storefront placement.
Troubleshooting
Check the ConvertX App Embed, the Upsell App Block placement, the product targeting rules, and the published status.
Confirm the upsell product is available in Shopify and that the shopper is using the standard product Add to Cart flow on the page.
Simplify the content, reduce spacing, and keep the offer close to the Add to Cart button.
Best practices
- Offer only complementary products
- Keep the copy short and concrete
- Place the upsell above Add to Cart
- Avoid stacking too many upsells on the same product page
