Install & Setup
ConvertX is a Shopify app for product-page modules, widgets, sections, and Cart Drawer optimization. The initial setup is short, but one step is mandatory: enabling the ConvertX App Embed in the theme you want to use.
This guide covers the full setup flow so published ConvertX features can actually load on the storefront.
No code editing is required. ConvertX uses Shopify App Embeds, App Blocks, and theme sections.
What gets installed
After installation, ConvertX can power three types of storefront elements:
- Modules such as Bundles, Upsells, Stories, Sticky Add to Cart, Payment Icons, and Cart Drawer
- Widgets such as Product Benefits, Product Highlights, Stock Indicator, Estimated Delivery Date, Trust Icons, and Product Badge
- Theme Sections such as Testimonials Carousel, Image + Text Highlight, and Before/After Comparison
Modules and widgets do not all use the same placement flow. Some use a product page App Block, while Sticky Add to Cart and Cart Drawer rely on the App Embed.
Step 1: Install ConvertX from the Shopify App Store
Open the Shopify App Store
Search for ConvertX from your Shopify Admin or from the App Store.
Install the app
Click Install and approve the required Shopify permissions.
Open the ConvertX dashboard
After installation, Shopify redirects you to ConvertX inside your admin.
Step 2: Complete onboarding
When you open ConvertX for the first time, you may see onboarding and plan screens. These help unlock the right features, but they do not replace theme setup.
During onboarding, you can:
- Review plans and feature access
- Explore available modules, widgets, and sections
- Start creating drafts before placing features in the theme
Plan limits affect active application types and premium functionality, but the installation flow stays the same for every store.
Step 3: Activate the App Embed
The ConvertX App Embed is required. It loads ConvertX storefront logic and powers global features such as Sticky Add to Cart and Cart Drawer.
If the App Embed is disabled, ConvertX storefront features can stop working immediately.
Open the Theme Editor
In Shopify Admin, go to Online Store -> Themes -> Customize.
Open App embeds
In the Theme Editor sidebar, open App embeds.
Enable ConvertX
Turn on the ConvertX App Embed.
Save the theme
Click Save before leaving the editor.
For a dedicated walkthrough, see Activate the App Embed.
Step 4: Verify installation
Use this quick checklist:
- Open ConvertX and confirm you can access the dashboard
- Confirm the App Embed is enabled in the active theme
- Publish one test feature
- If it uses an App Block, place it in the product template and save
- Visit a product page on the storefront and confirm it loads
Bundles, Upsells, Stories, Payment Icons, and widgets usually require an App Block. Sticky Add to Cart and Cart Drawer use the App Embed instead.
What to do next
After installation, the next step depends on the feature you want to use:
- Start with Create & Activate your first module
- Use Add a ConvertX App Block when a product template placement is required
- Use Module not showing on the storefront if a published feature is missing
Common installation issues
Check the full chain:
The ConvertX App Embed is enabled in the active theme
The feature is published or unlocked
The feature is placed in the Theme Editor when an App Block is required
The current product matches the targeting rules
The App Embed is theme-specific. Re-enable the ConvertX App Embed in the new theme, then re-check any App Blocks or sections placed in that theme.
Make sure you are editing an Online Store 2.0 theme in the Shopify Theme Editor. Older or heavily customized themes may expose different editor layouts.
Best practices
- Enable the App Embed before publishing storefront features
- Test one feature at a time during setup
- Verify placement on a real product page, not only in the app preview
- If you use multiple themes, repeat setup checks on each theme
