How ConvertX revenue works
ConvertX tracks two different revenue concepts:
- Additional revenue
- Influenced revenue
These metrics are used for analytics and plan enforcement inside ConvertX. They do not change Shopify payouts or native Shopify reporting.
Additional revenue and influenced revenue are not the same thing. ConvertX tracks them separately on purpose.
Additional revenue
Additional revenue represents incremental value created directly by a ConvertX conversion feature.
This mainly applies to:
- Bundles
- Upsells
- Cart Drawer recommended products
- Cart Drawer shipping protection
Bundles
For Bundles, ConvertX attributes the incremental value created by the bundled quantity beyond the base product purchase.
Upsells
For Upsells, ConvertX attributes the value of the accepted upsell line item.
Cart Drawer
For Cart Drawer, ConvertX attributes the value generated by:
- Recommended products added through the drawer
- Shipping protection added through the drawer
Influenced revenue
Influenced revenue represents revenue attributed to a feature that influenced the purchase path rather than directly adding a dedicated upsell line.
This mainly applies to:
- Stories
- Sticky Add to Cart
Stories
Stories can influence revenue when a shopper interacts with story content and then purchases the related product.
Sticky Add to Cart
Sticky Add to Cart can influence revenue when the sticky purchase flow supports the product being added and purchased.
What is not counted
The following are not attributed as ConvertX revenue:
- Orders with no ConvertX interaction
- Revenue outside the app's attribution logic
- Drawer views that do not lead to a qualifying add
Why this matters for plans
ConvertX plan enforcement uses the store's monthly additional revenue threshold. If the limit is exceeded, the app can move into a revenue-exceeded state before active applications are disabled later if the issue is not resolved.
Revenue-based enforcement is not immediate. The current app logic gives a grace period before disabling active application types.
