Activate the App Embed

The ConvertX App Embed connects ConvertX to your Shopify theme. It is the required storefront layer for ConvertX and must be enabled before you test published features.

ConvertX uses the App Embed to load shared storefront logic and to power features such as Sticky Add to Cart and Cart Drawer.

The App Embed is theme-specific. If you publish or switch to another theme, you must enable it again in that theme.

What the App Embed does

When enabled, the ConvertX App Embed can:

  • Load storefront scripts and styles required by ConvertX
  • Expose storefront context such as locale and money format
  • Enable Sticky Add to Cart on product pages
  • Enable Cart Drawer on the storefront
  • Support other published ConvertX features that rely on shared storefront logic

Publishing a feature is not enough if the App Embed is disabled.

How to activate the App Embed

Open Shopify Admin
Go to Online Store -> Themes.

Customize the theme
Open the theme where you want ConvertX to run.

Open App embeds
In the Theme Editor, open the App embeds panel.

Enable ConvertX
Turn on the ConvertX App Embed.

Save the theme
Click Save before leaving the editor.

When you still need an App Block

The App Embed does not replace every placement step.

You still need a product page App Block for features such as:

  • Bundles
  • Upsells
  • Stories
  • Payment Icons
  • Widgets on the product page

The App Embed handles global loading. App Blocks handle placement inside a Shopify template.

Common issues and fixes

App Embed is enabled but nothing appears

If the App Embed is enabled and nothing appears, the problem is usually placement, publish status, or targeting.

Check the following:

  • The feature status is Published or unlocked in ConvertX
  • The feature is placed in the Theme Editor when an App Block is required
  • The product or collection matches the targeting rules
  • You are testing on the same theme where the App Embed is enabled

I cannot find the App Embeds section

The App Embeds panel is available in the Shopify Theme Editor for Online Store 2.0 themes.

Make sure that:

  • You are editing a compatible theme
  • You are in the Theme Editor, not in another Shopify admin screen
  • You installed ConvertX on the correct store

I changed my Shopify theme

Each Shopify theme keeps its own App Embed configuration.

If you publish or switch to a new theme:

  • Open the new theme in the Theme Editor
  • Re-enable the ConvertX App Embed
  • Save the theme
  • Re-check any App Block or section placement in that theme

Verification checklist

Use this checklist after activation:

  • The ConvertX App Embed is on
  • The theme was saved after activation
  • The correct theme is being previewed
  • Your ConvertX feature is published or unlocked
  • If needed, the App Block is placed on the product template

Best practices

  • Re-check the App Embed after every theme switch
  • Treat the App Embed and App Block as two separate requirements
  • Test Sticky Add to Cart and Cart Drawer after every theme update
