Add sections to a theme
ConvertX Sections are Shopify theme sections that you add directly to a selected theme. After installation, they appear in the Theme Editor like native sections.
How sections work
The section flow is different from modules and widgets:
- ConvertX adds the section file to a selected Shopify theme
- You then open the Theme Editor
- You add the section where you want in the page layout
Sections are separate from App Blocks. They become part of the selected theme's available sections.
Before you start
Make sure that:
- The store plan includes access to sections
- You know which Shopify theme should receive the section
- You are ready to place the section inside that theme
Add a ConvertX Section
Open the Sections area in ConvertX
Choose the section you want to add.
Select the theme
Pick the Shopify theme that should receive the section file.
Confirm the addition
ConvertX injects the section into the selected theme.
Open the Shopify Theme Editor
Add the new section to the page where you want it to appear.
Troubleshooting
Make sure you added it to the same theme you are currently editing and confirm the current plan includes sections.
Repeat the add-to-theme action for the correct theme and work there from now on.
Place it first, then refine the surrounding theme layout so the ConvertX section feels native inside the page.
Best practices
- Use sections for larger visual or content blocks
- Add them to the live theme only after testing in a safe theme or duplicate
- Keep the chosen section consistent with the page purpose
